Limbe: A new branch of the Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (NtaCCUL), CEMAC’s leading microfinance institution, was inaugurated in Limbe, the chief town of Fako Division, South West region. The branch is strategically located near the Regional Hospital at Mile One Limbe. The inaugural ceremony was marked by the signature purple colors of NtaCCUL and was presided over by Viang Mekala, the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako. The event also included the awarding of national honors to eight staff members for their dedicated service.
According to Cameroon News Agency, Viang Mekala commended the leadership of NtaCCUL for expanding their operations to Limbe and recognized the institution’s contributions to nation-building. Notably, the microfinance entity supports the payment of salaries for over 3,500 civil servants and offers an interest rate on savings of up to 6%. Mekala urged the Union’s management to continue empowering individuals and revitalizing businesses to enhance the living standards of the comm
unity. The eight staff members honored included three recipients of Silver Guild Labour Medals of Honor and five recipients of Silver Labour Medals of Honor.
The president of NtaCCUL, Akumah Miranda Bill Esq, highlighted the institution’s commitment to giving back to its members and communities through its 6% interest rate. As of December 2024, NtaCCUL boasted a membership of 104,107 individuals, 34,426,888,059 CFA in shares, 56,084,831,087 CFA in savings, deposits totaling 5,799,894,900 CFA, and loans amounting to 4,244,391,118 CFA. Akumah emphasized the Union’s status as a digitalized financial institution with an online app and USSD platform that allows members to access their accounts throughout the day. She also noted the growth of the Union from fourteen founding members in 1972 to 19 branches in 2025, providing employment for 203 people across six regions in Cameroon.
