Mouhoun Community Marks Maouloud with Prayers for Peace and Unity

Mouhoun: On the night of September 4 to 5, 2025, the Muslim community of Dedougou celebrated Maouloud, marking the birth of the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH). The ceremony, which was marked by prayer, religious meditation, and social cohesion, brought together imams, spiritual guides, Islamic associations, and worshippers from different parts of the city.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the representative of the Grand Imam of Dedougou, Issa Tangara, emphasized the spiritual significance of this occasion. He described Maouloud as a time for Muslims to seek divine blessings and pray for peace in Burkina Faso. Tangara also urged the faithful to support the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland through their prayers, reinforcing the importance of backing national efforts to restore stability.

Cheikh Oumar Kone, secretary general of the Ansardine association’s Mouhoun section, highlighted the universal message of Maouloud. Kone emphasized the importance of truth, brotherhood, and unity, urging the community to avoid divisions and behaviors that could weaken society.

The celebration also addressed the youth, warning them against the allure of extremist groups. Preachers encouraged young individuals to engage in productive work, seek true Islamic knowledge, and become role models of righteousness.
