ECOWAS Hosts Successful Training Workshop to Strengthen TVET Capacities

Conakry: The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), through its Directorate of Education, Science, and Culture, successfully organized a training workshop focused on enhancing the national institutional capacities of stakeholders involved in technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The event took place in Conakry, Guinea, from August 11 to 13, 2026.

According to African Press Organization, the initiative aimed to bolster the capabilities of essential national actors in the TVET sector. The workshop's objectives included providing specialized capacity-building training to relevant stakeholders to promote effective, sustainable, and results-oriented management practices. Additionally, it sought to improve the quality and relevance of education and training within TVET institutions and to promote transparent, inclusive, and participatory governance and management systems.

This capacity-building program is part of ECOWAS's ongoing efforts to modernize training systems in the region. The goal is to align these systems with socio-economic development priorities, while fostering employability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth across all member states.
