Cape town: The nominees for the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 recognize the companies, projects, and individuals driving innovation, investment, and growth across Africa's energy sector. Featuring 12 categories spanning the full energy value chain, the awards celebrate the achievements shaping the continent's energy future. Winners will be announced during the AEW 2026 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, taking place on Tuesday, October 13, in Cape Town. The ceremony will bring together ministers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to recognize excellence in upstream, downstream, gas, power, local content, technology, and corporate leadership.
According to African Press Organization, the African Service Provider of the Year category includes nominees such as GeoEnergy Group, recognized for advancing digital transformation through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, and One Titanium, noted for delivering specialized services supporting Africa's energy industry. Others in the running are KAESO, SONILS, and NIPEX, all acknowledged for their contributions to technical services, logistics, and procurement in the region.
In the International Service Provider of the Year category, contenders include NOV and Geoex MCG, both known for their engineering support and seismic data acquisition, respectively. Africa Global Logistics, Technip Energies, SBM Offshore, and SLB are also recognized for their roles in supporting African energy projects.
Local Content Champion awards are divided into African and International Companies. Seplat Energy and Copia Group of Companies lead the African Companies category for their investment in local talent and indigenous participation. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies Uganda and NOV are prominent among International Companies for their workforce development initiatives.
The EandP Leader of the Year category highlights Shell and Renaissance Africa Energy, alongside others like Murphy Oil and Eni, for major discoveries and developments in various African regions.
In the downstream sector, Dangote Refinery and Cabinda Oil Refinery are shortlisted under Refining Project of the Year for their contributions to refining capacity in Nigeria and Angola. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline and African Atlantic Gas Pipeline are acknowledged for their infrastructure projects under the same category.
The Deal of the Year category sees Trafigura and Levene Energies among the top contenders for significant financial agreements and acquisitions enhancing Africa's energy landscape.
For CSR Project of the Year, Mozambique LNG and South African National Petroleum Company are recognized for their community support and educational initiatives, while the Gas Monetization Award features Levene Energies and NOV APL Norway for their advancements in gas commercialization.
In the realm of innovation, TotalEnergies and SOLA Group are noted for technological advancements in the Technology Innovator category. Lastly, the Power Africa Developer category emphasizes the contributions of TotalEnergies and Siemens Energy towards expanding Africa's renewable energy infrastructure.
